Wake your Morgan up for the Spring…

March 14, 2025 By Jessica Off

Not used your Morgan for the last few months? The wait is over! The sun is out and the road salt has finally been washed away, meaning it’s time to get back on the road. Here’s a few tips before you purr down the road in your Morgan…

If you opted against using a battery maintainer, charge your battery for a good 24 hours before trying to start the car. Letting a battery run flat does sometimes kill them, but sometimes a decent charge can re-instate them. If not, we hold good stocks of various batteries suitable for your Morgan.

Check the tyre pressures and re-adjust if you over-inflated to avoid flat spots during storage.

Check for any damage from furry critters within the interior and engine bay, and check under the vehicle to see if there’s anything pooling or condensing under the car; this could indicate a leak has developed which you’ll want to know about before taking your car on the road. It’s a good idea to grease up the front suspension if it’s due (traditional models) and check oil and coolant levels.

With these things in mind, now’s the time to fire up the Morgan. Let it come to it’s operating temperature and then let it run for at least 10 minutes as you continue to check for leaks on coolant, fuel hoses, and under the car.

Check your electricals; test the horn, your lights, and indicators, and also that gauges are reading normal. Pull it out of the storage space and drive it slowly for a mile or so to let systems like the transmission and suspension pull themselves out of their sleep. After things are moving freely and all warmed up, you’re good to go! Go and find some fresh, decent E5 petrol and fill it up. Now might be a good time to think about detailing your car as well, and luckily we have a fabulous new detailing range from Auto Finesse that you might like to try.

Finally, we do recommend a car wash as soon as possible to clear off the lingering winter, but if you’re anything like us you’ll want to put a few quick miles behind you. Completely understandable – you’ve waited long enough! Morgans are built to be driven – now is the time to make some more memories gazing down the long bonnet.
