We have the skills and enthusiasm to undertake all types of work on Morgans of all ages, from a Series I 4/4 right up to the Aero Supersport and the new 3 Wheeler.

We carry out regular servicing & MOT’s, wire wheel balancing, chassis and suspension work, performance exhaust systems, bodywork and accident repairs.  We even undertake full restorations and are a major stockist of various parts and products.

The workshop is always busy throughout the year so booking early for your service is advised.  If you have any questions about any aspect of your Morgan do not hesitate to call for advice.

Power Steering Upgrades

Reduce the effort at parking speeds whilst maintaining steering feel and feedback on the open road. With variable assistance based on vehicle speed, it makes a pre-2020 Morgan more practical and fun to drive.

Nitron Damper Upgrades

Improve the ride and handling of your Plus Four or Plus Six with Morgan Motor Company supplied Nitron dampers, as fitted with the factory dynamic handling pack. Your warranty will not be affected if we fit for you as official Morgan dealers. £3000 +VAT fitted, including geometry checked/adjusted before & after.

The original suspension I found to be firm, particularly noticeable on our pothole strewn roads, crashing and bouncing through the defective surfaces leaving me hoping for zero damage. With the Nitron dampers, the ride quality is a clear and discernible feature from the first moment; smoother and more akin to ‘normal’ suspension. The original suspension was fun, however the Nitron dampers provide the same elements without the break away or judder that I found with the original ride. SSL Suspension Upgrades

We can also carry out suspension upgrades for your traditional Morgan, manufactured by Suspension Supplies (SSL).

The RS front suspension upgrade kit replaces the original springs and dampers. This gives the suspension a more supple ride over  small bumps and features small internal springs to help prevent bottoming out which can be associated with the later, more softly sprung models. The design removes the preload on the main spring, achieving a rising rate which contributes to a smoother, more complaint ride.

Adjustable Spax dampers that come with the kit make it ‘tuneable’ to customer preferences. Guide price £1380 (inc. VAT) fitted, assuming the kingpins don’t require replacement. Including hard chrome kingpins at the same time, guide price is £1875 (inc. VAT).

 

The SSL 5 link rear suspension completely replaces the leaf sprints notorious for squeaking and uneven ride height.

It uses dual rate coilovers, giving a more supple ride and improve roll resistance and handling. The dampers are again adjustable Spax units and the spring platforms are also adjustable, giving a degree of ride height adjustment. 

The kit is quite complicated to fit, although with minimal drilling required it is completely reversible. Not suitable for 4 seaters.

Super 3 Chain Conversion

 A belt to chain drive conversion on a Super 3 is popular because it can reduce the persistent “squeal” that is a characteristic of the rubber drive belt that’s prone to misalignment and incorrect tension. A chain is a more efficient way of transmitting power to the drive wheel, with less torque loss, equating to a better power delivery. It sounds complicated,  but it’s instantly apparent in the way the car drives. It’s no surprise that Morgan now fit the chain as standard on production cars.  The chain does need a degree of maintenance, with regular cleaning and lubrication , but is not prone to the embedded debris that can occasionally affect the belt.

“I was eagerly awaiting a test drive in a Morgan Super 3 with a chain drive conversion. The day arrived on a cold bright winters day which proved ideal for a run out in what proved to be a transformed fun car. I had expected the driveline noise to be reduced – which it was, although some characterful chirps and whirring noises still swirled around the cockpit, although nothing like before. What was immediately obvious was the improved throttle response as I pulled away.  Once on the move this equated to a fantastically responsive machine which has turned the fun dial right around to max.  It’s now really easy to steer the car on the throttle if so desired, the engine feels likes it’s connected to driver by telepathy, not a throttle pedal. The car feels more powerful as a result, which maybe the result of less friction in the drivetrain or simply the more immediate response.  A Super 3 is fun with a belt,  but with a chain fitted it’s elevated to a machine that delivers its brief of pure driving joy in spades. If you have a Super 3 with a belt I cannot think of a better way to invest your money, or if you have never driven one – you don’t know what you’re missing.”
